Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 26 September 2011 By Thetashkentterror

With Walsall again inactive at the weekend it meant that both Preston and Carlisle were able to move up a place in the table on the back of an away victory each as the Saddlers dropped down to third, both North End and United now though having played two more games than a Walsall side who have won their opening five fixtures this season.

Preston's win was an excellent one too as they picked up three points with a 4-1 success at fourth placed Bury, while Carlisle found things a little tougher as they needed an injury time penalty to grab a tight 3-2 victory at Accrington Stanley. Meanwhile, in fifth place now are Oldham after the Latics defeated Burnley 2-0 at home, the Clarets having lost three in a row after winning their first three matches.

Further down the table Blackpool finally found some form as they beat Morecambe in an entertaining match 5-3 at home, while Macclesfield only needed one goal at home to defeat Rochdale 1-0. Next week there is a full list of fixtures in the division, with Port Vale the team missing out, Carlisle themselves being at home at Creighton to Bury in an 11am kick-off, the Shakers having seen a bumper 29 goals, 16 for and 13 against, hit the net in their six games so far.
