Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 23 November 2010 By Thetashkentterror
With Burnley out of action and Rochdale only picking up a point in a 3-3 draw at Accrington Stanley, it meant that Blackpool were able to stretch their lead at the top of the table to five points as they won 5-2 on the road at Morecambe. Wigan now the club completing the top four in the division as they gained three points with a 2-1 victory in North Wales.

That losing team Wrexham were Carlisle's first round FA Youth Cup opponents and next up comes Walsall in round two, with the Saddlers just starting to find a bit of form as on Saturday morning they won 3-1 at Macclesfield. The weekend being a rotten one all round for home sides as the final two games played also ended in away wins with Preston defeating Oldham 3-1 and Stockport beating Tranmere 3-2.

North End picking up three points means that United have slipped down a place in the table to 14th, with things not getting any easier for the young Blues this coming Saturday as they make the trip to table topping Blackpool who have netted 27 points out of a possible 30 so far. The only other fixture scheduled next week meanwhile being a mid-table clash between Macclesfield and Shrewsbury.
