Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 08 November 2010 By Thetashkentterror
With Blackpool out of action this weekend that gave in-form Burnley the chance to close the gap at the top of the table to just one point, the Clarets then doing just that as they won 4-1 at Oldham. Port Vale have now leapfrogged Rochdale and moved up to third place after they won 4-2 at home to Macclesfield, while the 'Dale could only pick up a point in a 0-0 draw on the road at Preston.

Completing the top five teams in the division are Wigan after they defeated Shrewsbury 3-1 at home, while into the mid-table reaches Wrexham tasted victory 2-1 away to Stockport. Down at the bottom end Bury drew 1-1 at home to Morecambe, and Tranmere are now joint wooden spoon holders, sadly with Carlisle, after Rovers went down heavily 4-0 at Walsall.

United's scheduled game away to Accrington Stanley was postponed as the Reds were in FA Youth Cup action at home to Darlington, a game that the visitors won 2-1 in a tie played at Clitheroe's Shawbridge ground. Next Saturday morning the young Blues are back in action at home to Morecambe in an 11am kick-off at Creighton Rugby Club, that match coming just 60 hours or so after some of the players will have already faced each other in reserve team action on Wednesday evening.
