Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 23 September 2010 By Thetashkentterror
Like last weekend, four games were played on Saturday with teams pulling fixtures forward from the bleak winter months into a scheduled blank weekend. The game of the day taking place at Burnley as the Clarets thumped last season's title-winners Preston 4-0 at home, North End having started poorly this time round on the back of four defeats and just one win - with that sole success unfortunately coming against Carlisle.

Elsewhere in the division Rochdale moved up to second with a 5-2 local derby home win over Bury and Accrington drew 3-3 at home to Morecambe in another high-scoring all-Lancastrian match up. Finally comes a 2-0 reverse for the young Blues on the road at Oldham, with United succumbing to two late Latics strikes as they continue to look for their first win of the campaign.

Next week sees a full round of fixtures take place in the division, but with an odd number of teams in the league it is Carlisle's turn to take a Saturday off. The next chance for the young Blues to pick up their first three points coming on October 2nd as they make the trip down the M6 to take on league leaders Blackpool.
