Last updated : 17 August 2010 By Thetashkentterror
Walsall are leading the way after the first weekend of action in the new season after they surprisingly thrashed Stockport 7-0 in Cheshire, Port Vale being another side who had a big victory on the road as they won 4-0 at Wigan. In a turn-around of form from last season Blackpool defeated Rochdale 5-2 at home as the goals continued to fly in around the league, while Oldham also won on their own turf, 3-1 against Morecambe.

Only five goals were scored in the other four games though as Wrexham and Tranmere fought out a 1-1 draw in North Wales, while Accrington Stanley and Shrewsbury won 1-0 at home to Bury and Macclesfield respectively. Carlisle meanwhile losing 1-0 at last season's runaway champions Preston, Jordan Bent getting North End's goal in the first-half.

This Saturday coming the young Blues play their first home game of the season when they face Bury in an 11am kick-off at Creighton Rugby Club. Burnley meanwhile play their first fixture of the campaign fullstop as they were the odd one out at the weekend in a division of 17 teams following the demise of Chester City last season.
