The FA Cup
After comfortably defeating Baker-Joiner Midland Football Alliance Division One side Tipton Town 6-0 at home yesterday in round one, United will once more face non-league oppostition at Brunton Park when at the end of this month they will take on Blue Square Bet Premier side Tamworth.

The Lambs themselves though causing a cup upset yesterday when they beat League Two outfit Crewe Alexandra 2-1 at home thanks to a goal in either half from Alex Rodman and Danny Thomas, with Ashley Westwood's 88th minute strike only proving to be a consolation effort for the Railwaymen.

Tamworth currently sit in 16th place, and just three points off the relegation zone in the Blue Square Bet Premier table, with a record of five wins, five draws and seven defeats from their 17 matches played so far. Their away record meanwhile reading two wins, two draws, four defeats, nine goals scored and 15 conceded.

They did pick up another away victory however in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round when they won 1-0 at Blundell Park in a replay against Grimsby Town after the original tie had finished 2-2 at the Lamb Ground. Tamworth top scorer Kyle Perry netting the only goal of the game for the Staffordshire outfit in the 41st minute to put them through for their first round proper tie at home to Crewe.

There are no former Carlisle players in the Tamworth squad at present, with their first team currently under the caretaker management of former Nottingham Forest defender Des Lyttle. As for games between the two sides, the Lambs and Blues have never faced each other in the FA Cup and each club won their home game in the then Nationwide Conference in the 2004-05 season, United 2-1 at Brunton Park and Tamworth 1-0 at the Lamb Ground.

Elsewhere in the draw, which was made live on ITV at just after 2pm this afternoon, the standout tie for the media will obviously be AFC Wimbledon v MK Dons if the two clubs can get through respective replays against Ebbsfleet United and Stevenage. Two other non-league giantkillers are through though and Dover will be confident of another win when they take on Port Vale or Accrington Stanley at home, while FC United of Manchester are away to Brighton & Hove Albion or Woking.
