Trialists News - Two More In And One Out

Walsh is the first one to talk about of the two as he will be known to those (I didn't) who watched Sky TV's Football's Next Star over the winter months. The Dublin-born 18-year old taking part in a competition to win a contract with Serie A giants Inter Milan, the midfielder making it to the final three, despite suffering from homesickness over in Italy, before losing out to eventual winner Ben Greenhalgh.

The former Cherry Orchard player, who has featured for the Republic of Ireland at under-15 and under-17 level, eventually though joining Airtricity League of Ireland outfit Shamrock Rovers straight after the competition. Walsh featuring for the Shamrock under-20s side this season, having made only one senior appearance in a 3-1 home Leinster Cup defeat against Shelbourne.

Much less is known about Dublin-born centre-forward Gary Shaw though with the Irish youngster apparently being a regular for Shamrock's under-20s side, while Shaw has also played for the Republic of Ireland under-18 schools side this year, representing Patrician Secondary School in the Centenary Shield, in which of course England defeated Scotland 4-1 at Brunton Park.

Out of the door however goes ex-Shrewsbury Town midfielder Jake Simpson, the 19-year old trialist having played 45 minutes at both Kendal and Workington over the past week. With father Paul Simpson recently taking over at Stockport though, and having signed Jake while he was at Shrewsbury, you might expect a contract offer to appear at Edgeley Park any time soon.
