Danny CadamarteriCleckheaton-born Cadamarteri today put pen to a paper on a two-year deal with the Cumbrians until the summer of 2014, as Carlisle's second incoming transfer of the season, following Mike Edwards ten days ago. Cadamarteri though, unlike centre-half Edwards, comes in as a player who can feature anywhere across the frontline, with his first goal in professional football scored as far back as October 1997.

That goal coming the season after the forward had made his debut as a 17-year old half-time susbstitute for Everton, whose Academy system he came through, on the final day of the 1996-97 campaign in a 2-1 home defeat against Chelsea. Two years around the first team at Goodison Park then followed before Cadamarteri went on loan to then second tier side Fulham in November 1999 for a month, where he would make three starts, two substitute appearances and score one goal for the Cottagers.

After another two and a half years of struggling to find a regular place in the Everton line-up Danny eventually went on loan to then second tier outfit Bradford City in February 2002 after his contract with the Toffeemen was terminated, the frontman then signing a permanent deal with the Bantams following his debut. His career record at Goodison Park then reading 50 starts, 60 substitute appearances and 15 goals scored.

Bradford's financial problems then hit again in May 2004 and following two and a bit years at Valley Parade and on the back of 43 starts, ten substitute appearances and six goals scored he moved the short distance to Leeds United in June 2004. Danny's time at Elland Road was short-lived though and following just one substitute appearance for the Whites in a League Cup tie he signed for Sheffield United in September 2004 for a fee of £50,000.

After making 14 starts, eight substitute appearances and scoring one goal for the Blades a move back to Bradford then followed in the summer of 2005 as Cadamarteri signed a two-year deal with the Bantams on a free transfer. Off-field problems struck in March 2006 however when the frontman received a six-month drug ban for having ephedrine in his system after taking some Day Nurse medicine to treat a cold.

With his contract then cancelled at Valley Parade, following 29 starts, 15 substitute appearances and the scoring of 4 goals for the Bantams, Danny ended up having an unsuccessful trial at Barnsley in November 2006 after his ban expired. Cadamarteri eventually linking up with then Conference National side Grays Athletic the following month where he made two starts and scored one goal before he joined Championship side Leicester City on six-month contract having trained with the Foxes for two weeks.

Only two FA Cup substitute appearances and one goal came at Leicester however, with Cadamarteri also spending a month on loan at League One club Doncaster Rovers through the March and April of 2007 where he made six starts and scored one goal. But, with his contract not renewed by Leicester at the end of the season it was then back to West Yorkshire as Danny moved to Huddersfield Town on a two-year contract in June 2007.

After those two years were up with the Terriers Cadamarteri rejected a new deal with Town of a one-year contract with the option of a second year based on appearances, as in May 2009 he signed a pre-contract agreement with Dundee United in the Scottish Premier League. His time with Huddersfield meanwhile having seen him make 38 starts, 12 substitute appearances and score five goals.

Cadamarteri had signed a two-year deal with the Tangerines but in January 2011 he was released by mutual consent having made 19 starts, 19 substitute appearances and scored four goals at Tannadice. Danny then moving back to Huddersfield on the final day of the transfer windown as he signed a new contract with the Terriers until the end of the 2010-11 campaign, with his form in that spell then earning him a fresh one year deal to run up to the end of last season.

With Huddersfield promoted to the Championship last month though Cadamarteri was released by Town having made eight starts, 22 substitute appearances and scored three goals in his second spell with the club. And so that's where Carlisle come in as the Blues today signed the 32-year old, who also made three England under-21 substitute appearances between November 1998 and May 2001, on a two year deal.
