United midfielder Paul Murray spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey on Friday as he gave his thoughts on how his recuperation from his knee injury is progressing :

" Things are going very well, it's very positive and things couldn't be more positive at the moment. I've had no side-effects or problems or anything so it's all going well and I'm cracking on. I've probably got about another seven or eight days on the cross trainer and then I can start to get outside, getting outside is another step and keeps you going. I'm feeling good and I can't wait to be back.

" You know what football is like though, I might come back and end up pulling a hamstring, although God forbid I don't. Everything is going well, there is a reserve game on the 13th of December and there is no game until the 25th of January after that so really it'll be jumping straight back into the first-team, or trying to get in and around it, or try and get this game in on December the 13th. Whether I can push for that or not I'm not too sure, if I can't get that game then obviously I've got to look at the Christmas fixtures as to the ones to be involved in really.

" I'm 30 now, I've got to realise that I'm not 17 any more, you can push yourself and be out for another three or four weeks. I'm hoping for the 13th, although the 19th is exactly eight weeks and that is what is really recommended. It would be a massive relief, but I'm sceptical of anything – the scans or whatever, it's about how I was feeling, and when I had the bit of cartilage taken out my problems had gone.

" Hopefully that's it, I've been to Germany and had a few bits done there, so I've got to be positive and look forward to it. God forbid that anything happens again but I've got to crack on whatever happens, there is no point worrying about things, I'm just looking positive and getting back fit, and getting back playing. I've always said to myself that when I'm not as enthusiastic as I am about the game, getting fit and playing then I'll probably hang up my boots. I've got plenty more of that to come though and fingers crossed my body can hold up for another five years. "
