United midfielder Jeff Smith spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria on Friday evening as he gave his thoughts on the defeat at Millwall last weekend and how he is settling into life at Brunton Park since his £60,000 move from Port Vale in January :

" That's football at the end of the day, the lads were disappointed after the game because we missed a couple of chances. We got punished for it though and that's football, probably through the season it has been the other way round where the other team hasn't taken their chances and Carlisle have taken theirs and won the game. It's just one of those things but we've got a chance to put it right again tomorrow so hopefully we can do that.

" We've lost the last game and we're still in with a shout, we've been four points off the play-offs for the last few games now. Everyone is playing each other and taking points off each other though so it's going to be interesting from now until the end of the season to see what happens. At one point in the season you are going to pick up a few injuries, so you have to come together as a team and the fringe players in the squad get their chance so that's just part and parcel of the game. The lads are just trying to help each other out and whoever comes in will take their chance.

" It's been absolutely brilliant, it's always a bit strange when you come to a new team. It normally takes you a while to settle in, and I thought it would take me a while to settle in here. I'm quite surprised though at how all the lads have taken to me, it just feels like I've been here all season now, it's been brilliant. I've bought a house in Haltwhistle but at the minute I'm staying in one of Fred Story's apartments with Joe Garner and James Krause, we are having a bit of banter and that between ourselves so it's been good.

" They are the two young lads and I feel like I'm their Dad when I'm in there, cleaning up after them and that, they are a right mess. The list of worst habits is endless for Joe to be honest, everything just goes on the floor, he leaves bowls out and he doesn't wash up after himself. It could be like Big Brother if you had a camera in this apartment, it would be brilliant, I'd definitely vote Joe off first without a shadow of a doubt. "

" I think the training facilities is a massive point as they are all being dug up at the minute which is a bit hard for the lads but we just get on with that. As regards the training I had Neil McDonald as my reserve team manager at Bolton and the training was first class. He's done all his badges and everything he does is spot on, I couldn't fault him.

" The goal at Doncaster was a nice goal to score and it was nice to get it so early into my Carlisle career, just to take the pressure off me. It's always nice to get a goal and hopefully I can get a few more before the end of the season. I'm on five goals at the minute so to get to ten I'm going to have start banging them in with nine games to go. I need to get a goal every two games, hopefully I can do it.

" The fans are absolutely brilliant, I'm a North-East lad from Middlesbrough and I know that all the clubs in the North - the supporters are so passionate and they love the club. It's not the same everywhere else but here it's fantastic. We get a big crowd at home and we take a lot of fans away as well. I was quite surprised at how many fans we take away because every away trip for the fans is shocking. It must cost them a fortune because they are travelling miles all the time, but they support their team and you can't fault them for that, hopefully we can give them something to cheer about.

" I know quite a lot about Huddersfield to be honest because I have been in this league for three years now and it's pretty much the same group of players that I've played against for the last two years. They have got a lot of young players who have come through the youth team, but they are experienced now that they have been playing first team football for three or four seasons.

" I know that they are a good young side and they like to pass the ball, it's going to be a tough game. You've got to adapt to whoever you are playing on a Saturday. In training you train for the opposition really, we know that they have got a big striker and we've worked on that and we know what we've got to do to stop them, hopefully we can do that tomorrow. "
