Yeovil have finally completed the signing of goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall, who links up again with his old boss Russell Slade. The 28-year old rejected the offer of a new contract with League Two outfit Grimsby Town as he wants the chance to ply his trade at a higher level with the Glovers, and is expected to be the first of many signings for the Somerset club this week. Mildenhall joined the Mariners, then under the tutorship of Slade, from Oldham in June 2005, and with Chris Weale injured at Yeovil he is expected to start the season as the number one at Huish Park. Meanwhile, the Glovers have signed up three of their youth-team players on one-year professional contracts, defenders Craig Alcock and Jake Smeeton, and striker Tom Clarke all making the step up.

New Oldham Athletic boss John Sheridan has made two new signings in the last two days, snapping up midfielder Gary McDonald and goalkeeper Les Pogliacomi. McDonald was also a target for Dunfermline Athletic and the 24-year old joins the Latics from SPL side Kilmarnock after rejecting a new contract offer at Rugby Park. Pogliacomi links up at Boundary Park after being released by fellow League One side Blackpool at the end of last season. The 30-year old Australian was also interesting Bury and Tranmere but rejoins his old club, after leaving the Latics in the summer of 2005 to move to Bloomfield Road.

Bristol City may be seeing one player stay at Ashton Gate and one player leave in the coming weeks. Defender Bradley Orr is poised to sign a new two-year deal with the Robins, chairman Steve Lansdown being impressed with the performances at right-back of the ex-midfielder during the second half of last season. However Lansdown admits that the club will find it difficult to keep hold of Australian international midfielder Luke Wilkshire once the World Cup has finished. Wilkshire has made no secret of his desire to play at a higher level than League One and Lansdown expects the 24-year old, who joined City from Middlesbrough in 2003, to attract plenty of attention from clubs in the coming weeks.

Steve Guinan could be set to leave newly-promoted Cheltenham before the Robins have even kicked a ball in League One, the out-of-contract ex-Hereford striker describing himself as "desperately unhappy" with his new contract offer from the Whaddon Road club. Notts County boss Steve Thompson has revealed that he hopes to sign the 30-year old Guinan, who has already played for ten clubs in a nomadic career, new manager Thompson having already signed Jason Lee, Matt Somner, Lawrie Dudfield and Alan White recently. Gillingham goalkeeper Jason Brown is another man unhappy with contract negotiations, the out-of-contract 24-year old saying that if he is not offered a new deal within the next three or four days he will be looking to move on to another club.

Millwall have snapped up Portugese-born Chelsea winger Filipe Morais on a two-year deal, the 20-year old becoming new boss Nigel Spackman's fourth signing, after Darren Byfield, Lenny Pidgeley and Zak Whitbread. Morais spent four years at Stamford Bridge but never got above reverse team level, although he did gain some League One first-team experience at MK Dons last year where he made 13 appearances in a loan spell. Crewe goalkeeper Owain fon Williams has signed a new two-year contract with the Alex', the 19-year old Welshman suffered a broken leg in 2005 but came back from that injury to make two appearances on the first-team substitutes bench last season.

Crisis-club Rotherham have warned four of their out-of-contract players, who are contemplating new offers at Millmoor, that they are now actively looking for potential replacements. Paul Hurst, Shaun Barker, Paul McLaren and John Mullin are the quartet involved and boss Alan Knill is keen to get a contigency plan in place having already lost strikers Martin Butler and Paul Shaw, who have joined Walsall and Chesterfield respectively. Carmarthen Town defender Martyn Giles is not interesting Swansea City according to Swans boss Kenny Jackett. The former Cardiff City and Wales Under-21 player, 23, had trained at the Liberty Stadium last season but is now not considered to be a realistic recruit for City as they again chase promotion from League One.
