United boss Paul Simpson has failed in his attempt to come back from injury in time for tomorrow's trip to Lincoln City.

But he received a boost today after completing two loan signings and making Kevin Henderson's move from Hartlepool into a permanent one.

Everton's 19 year old starlet Steve Schumacher and Hartlepool's Paul Arnison have arrived on loan just 48 hours after the club finally emerged from over 12 months of CVA (Company Voluntary Arrangement). Henderson has agreed a deal to the end of next season as Simpson looks to overhaul a squad that has taken United to a desperate 10 points adrift at the bottom of the league.

The Cumbrians will be hoping the arrival of Schumacher and Arnison coupled with the return from injury of Henderson and experienced defender Paul Raven will allow them to avoid equalling the club record of eight straight defeats at Sincil Bank tomorrow. Henderson hopes to shrug off an ankle injury rather earlier than expected and return to action. He will be needed as Richie Foran starts a four-match suspension and Lee Andrews is also banned.

Lincoln ended a 12-match unbeaten run when they went down 3-0 at leaders Hull City last week. They will be looking to re-energise their promotion drive and Simpson is under no illusions as to the size of the task.

"They are very well organised, big and strong," he said. "I spoke to Peter Taylor down at Hull and he admitted they might have been a bit flattered by the scoreline last week. They will be very tough to overcome."
