Reading wide man Jack Stacey signs for the Cumbrians

United have today signed Reading winger Jack Stacey on a one-month loan deal which keeps him at Brunton Park until 23 April 2016.

Stacey, 19, joined the Royals as a youngster and made his way through the youth set-up at the Madejski Stadium.

He penned his first professional contract in December 2013 and went on to play a key part in helping Reading Under-21s claim the inaugural Premier League Cup a year later.

His professional debut was in a 1-0 home win over Ipswich in August 2014 and his first senior start came later that season, in March 2015, in the away game at Watford.

He agreed a contract extension in October 2015 which keeps him with Reading until the summer of 2019.

He has made a total of six appearances for his parent club and had a one-month loan spell with Barnet, making two appearances, in December 2015.

Manager Keith Curle said: “We’ve been aware of Jack for quite a while now. I've been to watch him, as have Colin West and Lee Dykes, and we've liked what we’ve seen.

“He’s a young player who has plenty we can work with. He likes to support the strikers and he's comfortable on the ball, and we think he has the kind of attributes we need to help us to implement different options.

“We think this is a challenge he’ll enjoy.”

Head of recruitment Lee Dykes said: “As well as the manager, the assistant manager and myself, I have also had other scouts watching him closely for a number of months.

“Everyone has been highly impressed. He’s strong, he likes to compete and he has pace. He uses the ball well in the final third and he brings others into it with the way he likes to give the ball and create space.

“It’s a good one for us and, having done our due diligence, we’re happy to be able to give him this chance.”

This deal is subject to final clearance of all paperwork with the Football League.
