Defender commits future to the Cumbrians

United defender Tom Miller has today agreed a two-year deal which keeps him at Brunton Park until the summer of 2018.

Miller, 25, joined the Cumbrians on a one-year deal last summer and scored 5 goals in 35 appearances in what was a successful season at right back and right wing back.

Manager Keith Curle said: “Tom was offered the deal at the end of last season because we felt he adjusted well to life in league football.

"He showed he could make the step up and the pleasing thing is that we feel there is still more to come. He's a hard worker and he wants to learn, and he's keen to progress and push on with his career at an age where he is ready to make an impact.

"He's been away with family, which is why it has taken a while to sort things out, and there were other offers for him to consider. We respect that and we knew from having talked to him that we were always in a good position.

"He's back with us today and I know he's looking forward to being back in the group as we get ready for the new season."

Miller came through the Norwich City academy system but was snapped up on a two-year deal by Glasgow Rangers following a successful trial period with the Scottish giants at the end of his YTS spell with the Canaries.

He moved from Ibrox to join League of Ireland side Dundalk in 2010 and scored once in 32 appearances before signing for Newport County during the January 2011 transfer window.

He joined Lincoln, initially on loan, in March 2012 and went on to earn the Player of the Season award for 2013/14 after agreeing a two-year deal with the club.

Miller made 118 appearances and scored 11 goals whilst with the Imps.
