Carlisle United have today signed Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Paul Corry on a one month loan deal which keeps him at Brunton Park until 11 April 2015, the official site have reported.

Corry, 24, has represented the Republic of Ireland at all levels up to U21 and won the FAI Umbro U17 Cup in 2009 with Belvedere FC.

He signed for UCD later that year and made over 100 appearances in his three year stay with the club.

His impressive displays attracted the scouts and he signed for the Owls for an undisclosed fee in August 2012.

He made his debut in English football against Southampton in September that year, and he joined Tranmere on loan in February 2013 where he made six appearances.

Manager Keith Curle said: "He's technically and tactically a good footballer. He's got good pedigree and a desire to play games. He's naturally gifted and he's got an eye for a ball, and he can open teams up with his range of passing.

"He's got good energy levels and enthusiasm and he's got a willingness and bravery to get on the ball and get us playing. We've spoken to him and his level of commitment has come across because he just wants to be playing games. It's a crucial time for him because he isn't 19 or 20, he's a 24 year old, but he's been at a Championship club without playing the number of games he would have liked.

"He needs to create a personality and identity for himself so it's a win-win situation. We're lucky to have a player of his ability coming to the club and he's got a good opportunity to showcase what he can do."

"The recruitment process is always ongoing," he confirmed. "I know what we've got in the changing room and anybody we bring into the fold now will either have better qualities to what we've got ... or certainly different qualities."

Corry will wear squad number 35.
