Abbott may turn to McGinty

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott could be ready to make changes after his side's 4-1 thumping at home by Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Abbott resisted the temptation to throw on-loan teenager Sean McGinty in at the deep end at the weekend, but may hand the Manchester United centre-half his debut for the Cumbrians in place of either Peter Murphy or Mike Edwards.

Fellow central defender Danny Livesey has missed the last three games due to a hand injury, while midfielder Paul Thirlwell has been sidelined for the last four with an ankle problem and both remain doubtful.

But winger Matty Robson (back) could return to the starting line-up after returning to action off the substitutes' bench against Orient.

Abbott has been dealt a further injury blow with the news that striker Danny Cadamarteri, who missed out at the weekend with a groin problem, will be sidelined for another fortnight.

Lee Miller is not yet ready for first-team action after spending more than eight months out with hernia and ankle injuries, and fellow forward Rory Loy is still in rehabilitation after breaking his leg.

Doncaster are likely to have an unchanged squad.

Paul Quinn was left out against Portsmouth on Saturday due to injury and the right-back is set to remain sidelined while he undergoes further tests on the problem.

Rovers boss Dean Saunders has the likes of defender Shelton Martis, midfielders David Syers and Michael Woods, and forwards Chris Brown and Robbie Blake available should he wish to make any changes to his starting line-up.

Skipper Rob Jones made a telling return to the side in the 1-0 win at Portsmouth and showed no ill-effects after being knocked unconscious in his last game.

"I can't speak highly enough of him," said Saunders about the defender. "He's done brilliantly since he's been here and got us so many points on his own and he drives the rest of them on."

Meanwhile, results of a second scan on Jamie McCombe's back have revealed the hairline fracture of his spine has healed so he can step up his recovery.
