Carlisle United Football Club have today signed midfielder Jeffrey Monakana on an emergency loan which keeps him at the club until 2 May 2015. Also signed is Middlesborough defender David Atkinson for the same period.

Monakana, 21, progressed through the youth system with Arsenal but signed for Preston North End on a one-year deal in 2012. He made over 50 appearances for the Lilywhites and enjoyed a two-month loan spell with Colchester United during his time at Deepdale.
Brighton & Hove Albion signed him on an undisclosed fee in January 2014 and has had loan spells with Crawley, Aberdeen and Mansfield Town.

Shildon-born Atkinson, 21, joined Middlesbrough as an eight year old and earned a place in Aitor Karanka's first team squad late in the 2013/14 season. The England youth international can play anywhere across the back four and has also featured in midfield for the Development Squad. He spent a month on loan at Hartlepool in September of last year.
