History of the Wycombe Wanderers v Carlisle United fixture

Carlisle travel to Buckinghamshire tomorrow hoping to improve on their record of one win, one draw and three defeats in the five games played between the two sides at Adams Park over the years.

The last time the teams met in Buckinghamshire was on the opening day of United's 2005/06 League Two title winning season. Derek Holmes putting the Blues 1-0 up after 17 minutes before Tommy Mooney equalised for the home side eight minutes before half-time to leave the final scoreline at 1-1 in front of 5,270 spectators.

Carlisle's only win in five attempts at Adams Park came in 1997/98 in the same division we find ourselves in now, United victorious 4-1 in a rare away success that season. £100,000 man Andy Couzens putting the Cumbrians 1-0 up after four minutes before John Cornforth equalised from the penalty spot for the Wanderers just seven minutes later.

Matt Jansen though restoring Carlisle's one goal advantage with 39 minutes on the clock, and then Owen Archdeacon making it 3-1 to United after 78 minutes with his own spot-kick. Jansen then scoring his second goal of the game in injury time to make the final score 4-1 to United as 6,018 fans looked on.

Recent respective form guides

Wycombe's dreadful home form has resulted in just one victory and one draw from their last six matches played at Adams Park. While the Chairboys have scored only five goals, a hefty twelve have been leaked at the other end.

Carlisle's away form is none too clever either though, picking up two good wins, but drawing one and losing three from their last six games on the road. While the Cumbrians have scored a useful eight goals in those games, a bumper twelve have hit the back of the wrong net.

Wycombe are stuck down in the relegation zone of League One, in 23rd place, with a return of just 28 points from their 34 games played so far. Carlisle meanwhile see themselves just below half-way in the table, in 13th, showing a record of 40 points from their 33 games contested to date.
