History of the Swindon Town v Carlisle United fixture

Carlisle face a trip to Wiltshire tomorrow afternoon, looking to break their duck against the County Ground hosts. The Cumbrians have drawn ten of the 18 games played in Swindon, but have lost the remainder.

Last season in League One Carlisle went down to the Robins 2-0 at the County Ground on the same weekend in February to the fixture in this campaign. The scorers for the hosts that Saturday being Charlie Austin on 31 minutes and Billy Paynter after 54 minutes as 7,704 fans looked on.

In the 2008-09 League One campaign, in early December 2008, the two sides fought out a 1-1 draw in Swindon in front of 6,787 spectators. A Peter Murphy own goal gave Town the lead with 50 minutes on the clock but United came back to grab a point thanks to Paul Thirlwell's 87th minute equaliser.

A two goal margin of victory has never been bettered by the Robins in their eight victories against Carlisle at the County Ground. United meanwhile have never won at Swindon, the teams though having only played against each other five times in Wiltshire in the last 25 years.

Recent respective form guides

Swindon will be hoping to improve on their very poor recent home form, collecting just four draws and two defeats from their last six contests at the County Ground. Only three goals have been registered in this time, with five going in at the wrong end.

Carlisle's away form is none too clever either however, winning two of their last six matches away from Brunton Park, but losing the other four. The Cumbrians have conceded seven goals in these games, and only hit just two in reply.

Swindon are stuck down in the relegation zone of Npower League One with a return of just 31 points from their 31 games played thus far. Carlisle meanwhile see themselves just below half-way in the table, in 13th, showing a record of 38 points picked up from their 28 matches contested to date.
