History of the Swindon Town v Carlisle United fixture

Carlisle face a trip to Wiltshire tomorrow afternoon, looking to break their duck against the County Ground hosts. The Cumbrians have drawn ten of the 17 games played in Swindon, but have lost the remainder.

Last season in League One in early December 2008 the two sides fought out a 1-1 draw in Swindon in front of 6,787 spectators. A Peter Murphy own goal gave Town the lead with 50 minutes on the clock but United came back to grab a point thanks to Paul Thirlwell's 87th minute equaliser.

A two goal margin of victory has never been bettered by the Robins in their seven victories against Carlisle at the County Ground. United meanwhile have never won at Swindon, the teams though having only played against each other four times in Wiltshire in the last 23 years.

Recent respective form guides

Swindon are unbeaten in their last six home games at the County Ground, winning five of them, and drawing the other one. These high-scoring games have yielded a hefty total of 16 goals for the Robins, with only six against.

Carlisle have a slightly less than average recent record on the road, picking up two good wins, but losing three and drawing one of their last six matches away from Brunton Park. While the Cumbrians have notched up a useful nine goals, a rather too large 12 have hit the back of the wrong net.

Swindon's total of 53 points from their 29 games played sees them sitting in the play-off places, in fifth spot, in League One. Meanwhile Carlisle's 37 points from their 30 games contested to date sees them lie just inside the top half of the table, in 12th position.
