History of the Swindon Town v Carlisle United fixture

Carlisle face a trip to Wiltshire tomorrow afternoon, looking to break their duck against the County Ground hosts. The Cumbrians have drawn nine of the 16 games played in Swindon, but have lost the remainder.

Last season in League One, in mid-March, the two sides battled out an entertaining 2-2 draw. All the goals coing in the second-half in front of 6,004 spectators, Marc Bridge-Wilkinson putting United ahead in the 54th minute before Simon Cox and Blair Sturrock out Swindon 2-1 up with goals on 61 and 80 respectively. Peter Murphy though grabbing a late leveller for the Blues with an 86th minute header.

A two goal margin of victory has never been bettered by the Robins in their seven victories against Carlisle at the County Ground. United meanwhile have never won at Swindon, the teams though having only played against each other three times in Wiltshire in the last 20 years.

Recent respective form guides

Swindon are not in the best of form at home, with two wins, two draws, and two defeats in their last six games at the County Ground. A generous ten goals have been both scored and conceded in this period.

The away form of Carlisle is pretty dire, chalking up just one victory and five defeats from their last six matches away from Brunton Park. The Cumbrians have conceded a dreadful 13 goals in these games, while only netting a paltry three in reply.

Swindon are hovering perilously just one point above the relegation zone, in 19th place, with 19 points gained from their 18 matches played. So are Carlisle though as the Blues are just one point and two places better off than the Robins, United sitting in 17th position in the league having picked up 20 points from their 18 games contested to date.
