History of the Swindon Town v Carlisle United fixture

The Cumbrians face a trip to Wiltshire tomorrow afternoon, looking to break their duck against the hosts. United having drawn eight of the 15 contests at the County Ground between the two sides, but lost the remainder.

The last time the sides met in Swindon the Blues were defeated 3-1 in the FA Cup first round last season in front of 4,938 spectators. A Chris Lumsdon own goal on nine minutes put the Robins in front before Kevin Gray equalised two minutes before the interval. Two goals from Christian Roberts in the last quarter of the game though sealed a safe passage through to the second round of the competition for the home side.

That two goal margin of victory has never been bettered by the Robins in their seven victories against Carlisle at the County Ground. United meanwhile have never won at Swindon, although the teams have only played four games against each other in the last 20 years.

Recent respective form guides

Swindon have only performed averagely at home of late, winning three, drawing one and losing two of their last six matches at the County Ground. The goals for column just outweighs the goals against over this period at nine to eight.

Meanwhile Carlisle have an average recent record on the road, picking up two good wins, but losing three, from the last six games away from Brunton Park. Only three goals have been scored in this time, but similarly, only five have been conceded at the wrong end.

Swindon see themselves just below half-way in the League One table, in 14th, showing a record of 47 points from their 36 games played so far. Carlisle on the other hand are just outside the automatic promotion places, in third, having taken 67 points from 35 games.
