By Thetashkentterror

All the historical match stats for the game at Brunton Park tomorrow evening as United look to get back to winning ways
Footymad preview
History of the Carlisle United v Millwall fixture

The Blues welcome the Lions tomorrow hoping to improve an a record that has seen them beat Millwall in 13 of the 22 games contested between the two sides at Brunton Park over the years, United also picking up five draws but losing four times.

Last year in League One the Cumbrians defeated Millwall 2-0 at Brunton Park on the final day of the season to escape relegation by the skin of their teeth. Graham Kavanagh after seven minutes and then Paul Thirlwell five minutes after half-time both scoring from distance as 9,470 fans looked on.

The season before in League One Carlisle defeated the Bermondsey outfit 4-0 at home in early October 2007 in John Ward's first game as United boss. All the Carlisle goals, in front of 7,022 spectators, coming in a hectic opening period for the Blues thanks to Danny Graham (2), Joe Garner and Marc Bridge-Wilkinson.

United's biggest victory at home to Millwall over the years has two other times as well been by that 4-0 scoreline. Once in the 1969-70 Division Two campaign (goalscorers - Chris Balderstone, William Brown, Bob Hatton and a Lions own goal, attendance - 6,214). The second time being in the 1979-80 season in Division Three (goalscorers - Phil Bonnyman, Stephen Hollickin, Peter Beardsley and Steven Ludlam, attendance - 4,687).

Meanwhile the Lions, who have won five times in 22 attempts at Brunton Park, see their best margin of victory as being 2-0 when the sides first met in Cumbria in the old Fourth Division in 1958-59. The visitors grabbing both goals in the opening period in front of a healthy attendance of 7,725 fans.

Recent respective form guides

Carlisle are in reasonable form at home lately, with two wins, two draws, and two defeats in their last six matches at Brunton Park. A healthy total of 12 goals have been scored by the Cumbrians in those games, with seven conceded.

The away form of Millwall however, is more impressive, with three victories and just one loss from their last six matches on the road. The games have constituted a decent return of eight goals for the Lions, and only three goals against.

Carlisle's 41 points from 34 games played sees them lie just inside the top half of the table, in 12th position. Meanwhile Millwall's total of 59 points from their 34 games contested to date sees them sitting in the play-off places in League One, in sixth.

FootyMad's prediction ...

It's been an indifferent run of form for the Cumbrians of late, and things are not going to improve with the visit of Millwall, who the Footymad panel believe will win this game handsomely... Away win

Sequence statistics
CarlisleFive games since last home draw.
MillwallFour matches since last defeat.
