The Blues welcome the Lions tomorrow hoping to improve an a record that has seen them beat Millwall in 13 of the 22 games contested between the two sides at Brunton Park over the years, United also picking up five draws but losing four times.
Last year in League One the Cumbrians defeated Millwall 2-0 at Brunton Park on the final day of the season to escape relegation by the skin of their teeth. Graham Kavanagh after seven minutes and then Paul Thirlwell five minutes after half-time both scoring from distance as 9,470 fans looked on.
The season before in League One Carlisle defeated the Bermondsey outfit 4-0 at home in early October 2007 in John Ward's first game as United boss. United's biggest victory at home to Millwall over the years has two other times as well been by that 4-0 scoreline. Meanwhile the Lions, who have won five times in 22 attempts at Brunton Park, see their best margin of victory as being 2-0 when the sides first met in Cumbria in the old Fourth Division in 1958-59. The visitors grabbing both goals in the opening period in front of a healthy attendance of 7,725 fans.
