History of the Carlisle United v Leyton Orient fixture

United welcome the East Londoners to Cumbria tomorrow, with high hopes of improving on their excellent record against the opposition, having chalked up an impressive 15 wins out of 21 previous matches on home turf.

Last season in League One though Carlisle lost 3-1 at home to Orient in early March. United, in front of only 4,536 spectators, already 3-0 down thanks to O's goals from Charlie Daniels, Scott McGleish and and Simon Church before Scott Dobie grabbed a late consolation effort for the Blues in the 78th minute.

With Geraint Williams in charge of the East Londoners for that game we have to go back to the manager before to find another win for Orient at Brunton Park. That coming in 2005-06 when they won 3-2 under ex-boss Martin Ling, but Ling's first game as O's manager was the 1-0 home win over United in late September 2003, in one of a wretched run of 12 league defeats on the bounce for a Conference-bound Carlisle side.

Jabo Ibehre once more scoring against the Blues in the 66th minute to take all three points back down to London. Incidentally four of Orient's five victories at Brunton Park have all been by a narrow one goal margin. Their last win before 2003 coming as far back as the 1987-88 campaign in the old Division Four.

All Cumbrians will prefer to remember the 6-1 hammering of Orient in January 2002 though, a day when United were 4-0 up after just 17 minutes and 5-0 to the good at half-time, veteran frontman Ian Stevens bagging a hat-trick - with Steve Soley, Richie Foran and Brendan McGill the other goalscorers, in front of a paltry crowd in the darkest Michael Knighton days of just 2,955 spectators at an echoey Brunton Park.

Recent respective form guides

Carlisle have lost just once in their last six home games, winning four and drawing the other one. A healthy total of ten goals have been scored by the Cumbrians in those games, with only four conceded.

Despite winning last time out on the road Leyton Orient aren't having the best time on their travels, the O's winning just one and drawing two of their last six matches away from the Matchroom Stadium. Only five goals have been registered in this time, with seven leaked at the wrong end.

Carlisle's 32 points from 25 games played sees them lie just inside the top half of a tight table, in 11th position. Leyton Orient meanwhile find themselves struggling down in 17th position in the League One table having picked up 30 points from their 26 matches contested to date.
