History of the Huddersfield Town v Carlisle United fixture

The Blues face a trip to West Yorkshire needing to turn around their fortunes in Huddersfield. Carlisle hoping to improve on a record which has seen them taste defeat ten times, draw seven and win just one of the 18 games played.

The most recent encounter between these two sides at the Galpharm Stadium was just over ten months ago, the Terriers carving out a narrow 2-1 victory in a League One match. Luke Beckett bagging a brace to put the home side 2-0 up after just 32 minutes with Simon Hackney replying for United two minutes before half-time. The 10,830 spectators present seeing all three goals in the game come in the first-half.

The only time the Blues have come away from Huddersfield with a win was in the 1972-73 FA Cup, United never having won there in the league. A first-half own goal by the Terriers settling a third round replay after the two teams had earlier drawn 2-2 at Brunton Park. Carlisle making it to the last sixteen that season before they lost out 2-1 at home at Arsenal in front of a bumper attendance of 24,000.

Recent respective form guides

Huddersfield have lost just once in their last six home games, that 2-0 against 2006-07 League One play-off winners Blackpool, winning four and drawing the other one. A total of 12 goals have been scored by the Terriers in those games, with seven conceded.

Carlisle's away form is equally impressive, tasting just one defeat in their last six, and picking up four good wins. Just seven goals have been scored in these games, though to be fair only a measly four have been let in at the wrong end.

Huddersfield are placed second in League One after two wins from two while Carlisle are fifth following one win and one draw, so even at this stage of the season you could call the match tomorrow a top-of-the-table clash.
