Cumbrians denied late on

Stuart Lewis struck in stoppage time as Wycombe left it late again before rescuing a point in a 1-1 draw against promotion-chasing Carlisle.

The Cumbrians took the lead in fortunate circumstances when Jon-Paul McGovern's second-half strike hit the bar and rebounded in off Grant Basey.

But the Chairboys, who grabbed a point in injury time against MK Dons and Stevenage, struck late on for the third successive game as Lewis cut the gap to safety to a single point.

Carlisle could have taken the lead in the second minute but Nikki Bull was equal to Francois Zoko's low strike, and they were claiming a penalty after the break when Liam Noble burst through and appeared to be brought down by Chris Hackett.

The protests were forgotten soon after when McGovern's strike cannoned off the bar and bounced over the line off the unfortunate Basey to hand Carlisle a 62nd-minute lead.

But just as the Cumbrians looked set to cement their place in the play-offs with another three points, Lewis squeezed his 91st-minute shot home.
