Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 01 October 2012 By Thetashkentterror

With Carlisle's scheduled match at Bury waterlogged off, it meant that still undefeated Wrexham were able to close the gap at the top of the table to just one point with a 3-0 victory at home to Oldham, the Red Dragons also in the process leapfrogging Preston who were surprisingly held 3-3 at home to Fleetwood. Staying in Lancashire Burnley's home game with Accrington Stanley also fell foul of the weather, but up the coast at Blackpool a cracker of a match took place as the Tangerines ran out 6-4 winners against Morecambe.

Further down the country meanwhile and Walsall hammered Shrewsbury 4-0 at home, with Macclesfield also victors on their own turf with a 2-1 success against rock bottom Tranmere, while the final game played at the weekend finished all-square as Port Vale drew 1-1 at home to Rochdale. Next Saturday sees just four fixtures set to take place, with Carlisle facing a very tough trip to last season's champions Preston, the match taking place at the Springfields Training Complex in an 11am kick-off.
