Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 04 October 2012 By Thetashkentterror

With just 16 teams in the league and therefore 22 fixtures in the list for each side this season there are plenty of blank Saturdays about, this weekend for instance seeing just four matches take place in the division. One of them being Carlisle losing their first game of the campaign, 1-0 at home to a Port Vale outfit who have now moved into second position in the table, in a disappointing performance from the young Blues.

United though able to quickly get back on the horse next Saturday morning when they have yet another home game, this time against lowly Blackpool in an 11am kick-off at Creighton Rugby Club, Carlisle looking to get through plenty of their home fixtures before the real bad weather bites. It wasn't all bad for United at the weekend though as they regained top spot in the table via Rochdale surprisingly thrashing previously second placed Bury 7-0 at home.

The two other games played in the division meanwhile saw Preston move up to fifth place after winning 4-2 at Accrington Stanley in an entertaining encounter, while further down the table Tranmere remain rock bottom with just one point from their first five games as they lost 1-0 at Oldham. Next weekend then seeing more meat on the bones in the division with 14 of the 16 sides in action.
