Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 15 February 2010 By Thetashkentterror
At the top of the table Preston's recent poor form continued as they lost 3-2 at home to Tranmere, that allowing Shrewsbury to close the gap on them with a 1-0 win at Morecambe. Walsall were another big hitter going down on Saturday as they lost 3-2 at Rochdale, while fourth-placed Stockport on the other hand did manage a 2-0 victory on the road at Oldham.

As for the teams down at the opposite end of the table Macclesfield drew 1-1 at Bury, while Blackpool picked up a rare win as they defeated Wrexham 5-3 at home in a high scoring encounter. The final game played being Accrington and Wigan sharing a point apiece at Stanley, the other match scheduled in that area being postponed, Burnley's fixture against Chester called off as City were unable to raise a team as their shambolic existence on their death bed continues.

Meanwhile Carlisle and Port Vale had the weekend off having moved their designated fixture forward to November, a game United won handsomely 5-1. United's next match being a tough looking encounter next Saturday afternoon away to a rapidly improving Shrewsbury Town as the young Blues look to play only their second game in two months.
