Macclesfield are now up to fifth in the table after they also won away from home, the Silkmen beating rock-bottom Port Vale 1-0, Rochdale making up the top six with yet another away win on the day, the 'Dale cruising past Morecambe 3-0. Two home victories did come around the Manchester area though as Oldham beat Blackpool 3-2, and earlier in the week Bury defeated Accrington Stanley 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
Carlisle are now down to seventh in the table after losing 2-1 at home to Shrewsbury, Ryan Bowman getting the United goal in a match that also saw left-back Kieran Cahill as the match got ill-tempered late on. Next week the Blues have it all on as they face a table-topping Preston side at home in the opening stage of the League Cup that defeated them 5-1 in Lancashire a month ago, this Saturday's game kicking off at 11am at the usual venue of Creighton Rugby Club.
