Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 07 September 2009 By Thetashkentterror
Preston aren't stopping at the top of the table and they thumped Morecambe 8-0 at home this week after switching their game to Wednesday afternoon. North End having now started the season on a run of results that reads 4-0, 4-0, 5-1 and 8-0, that only goal conceded being scored by Carlisle's Ryan Bowman.

Rochdale are now up to second despite their scheduled match at Blackpool falling foul of the British late summer weather, the game being the first postponed fixture this year. Stockport are in third on goal difference as they lost their first game of the campaign, Wigan now up to fourth after defeating the Hatters 2-1 at home.

Tranmere, apart from Preston, are the only side still unbeaten and they kept that going with a 1-1 draw at last season's title winners Wrexham, while completing the top six are Macclesfield who thumped Walsall 5-0 at home. Down in the bottom half of the table Bury drew 0-0 at home to Oldham, while two teams picked up their first win of the campaign, Chester and Burnley both getting three points on the road in respective 2-1 and 4-1 victories at Shrewsbury and Port Vale.

As we already know an inconsistent Carlisle side got back to winning ways with a 3-1 success at Accrington Stanley, Ryan Bowman (2) and Matt Osmond getting the United goals. Next week the young Blues are back on home turf when they face Bury in an 11am Saturday kick-off at Creighton Rugby Club.
