Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 08 December 2008 By Thetashkentterror
Not surprisingly the winter weather was the big winner this weekend as only three games went ahead in the division, although Preston's scheduled game at Port Vale was called off as North End played Reading away in the FA Youth Cup on Friday night, a match the Lilywhites won 1-0 thanks to a late Ryan McGreevy goal.

In the division Blackpool bagged only their third win of the season, after being hammered 10-0 at Preston last week, the Seasiders defeating Rochdale 3-2 at home. Last season's title-winners Walsall have moved up to sixth in the table with so many teams inactive, the Saddlers winning 3-1 on the road at the Chester.

As we already know Carlisle won 3-1 at home to Morecambe, all three United goals coming from Andy Cook, to move up to second in the table. This latest victory coming in a remarkable run of six league and cup games at home in a row. The next one of those being the big FA Youth Cup third round clash against Crewe Alexandra on Wednesday night in a 7pm kick-off at Brunton Park, before Rochdale follows in the league on Saturday.
