Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 22 November 2008 By Thetashkentterror
The wet Autumn weather finally seems to be catching up across the North of England with Morecambe v Blackpool failing to go ahead due to a waterlogged surface, while Rochdale v Burnley was postponed due to Rochdale's involvement in the FA Youth Cup. Oldham played though and their 2-0 victory at Shrewsbury saw them move up to fourth in the table, the Latics leapfrogging Tranmere who were only able to draw 1-1 at home to Wigan.

Last season's title-winners Walsall also shared the spoils in their match as neither they nor Stockport were able to find the net at County. Preston continue to improve and they are now up to eighth in the table after winning a high-scoring clash 5-3 at Bury, Chester meanwhile claiming only their second win of the season as they defeated Port Vale 2-1 at home.

As we already know Carlisle beat Accrington Stanley 3-1 at home on Friday thanks to an Andy Cook hat-trick, that win taking the young Blues up to second in the table. United's next two games being cup encounters as they face a trip to Accrington on Monday evening in the FA Youth Cup second round, before most of the division takes a week off on Saturday for the Youth Alliance League Cup, Carlisle in the second round of that competition having been drawn to play Mansfield at home.
