Youth Team League Weekend Update

Burnley stay top of the table despite dropping their first points of the season at Blackpool in a 1-1 draw, Wrexham then closing the cap on the Clarets by two points as they won 3-2 at Shrewsbury. Tranmere are in fourth after thumping Port Vale 5-0 at home, while last season's title-winners, in Walsall, are up to seventh after winning 1-0 at Wigan.

Into the mid-table reaches Rochdale beat Stockport 2-1 at home, Bury hammered Accrington Stanley 5-0 on the road and Macclesfield were also on goalscoring form as they defeated Chester 4-1 at home. Preston played two games this week, as they lost 1-0 at York in the league cup on Wednesday and then bounced back on Saturday with a 4-0 home win over Morecambe.

Carlisle's nine-match winning run came to an end as they drew 0-0 away to fourth-placed Oldham Athletic. United remaining in third as they go into an Accrington double-header this weekend. The young Blues playing Stanley at home in the league on Friday lunchtime at Gillford Park before travelling down to Accrington on Monday night for an FA Youth Cup second round tie.
