Youth Team League Weekend Update

Burnley made it nine wins from nine as they hammered second-bottom Morecambe 7-2 on the road, while Wrexham stay in second despite suffering their first league loss of the season, 3-2 away to Stockport. Oldham, in fourth are another side that stay where they are after losing, the Latics going down 3-2 at Preston.

The last club in the top six getting nothing out of the weekend was Tranmere who lost 1-0 away to a resurgent Shrewsbury outfit, while Wigan, in seventh, suffered their second defeat in a row, 1-0 at home to Macclesfield on Friday afternoon. In the mid-table reaches last season's title-winners Walsall tasted victory 3-1 at home to Chester and Blackpool went down 3-2 at Bury.

Accrington made sure of not making it eight defeats from eight games as they rearranged their home game with Rochdale for December, while Carlisle, one point behind Wrexham with a game in hand, made it six league wins in a row as they defeated Port Vale 3-1 at home thanks to goals from Ryan Bowman (2) and Andy Cook. Next week the United youngsters take a trip to the seaside for an away fixture at fourth bottom Blackpool.
