Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 07 October 2008 By Thetashkentterror
Burnley remain the only 100%ers in the division after defeating Bury 4-3 on the road, while Wrexham stay in second after winning 1-0 away to winless Macclesfield. The last of the top three being Oldham who bounced back from losing 2-1 at Carlisle last week to succeed 3-0 at rock-bottom Accrington Stanley.

Wigan are now fourth after drawing 2-2 at home to seventh-placed Tranmere, while Port Vale have moved up to sixth in the division after an entertaining match saw them defeat Chester 5-3 at home. Stockport being the last of the teams in the top half of the table not to get a mention so far, the Hatters winning 2-1 at last-season's title-winners Walsall.

Lancashire neighbours Preston and Blackpool are struggling so far this campaign and they are both now in the bottom six after North End lost 1-0 at home to Shrewsbury, who finished bottom last season, while Blackpool went down 2-1 on the road at lowly Rochdale.

As we already know, Carlisle, in fifth, won 4-1 at Morecambe thanks to goals from Andy Cook, Jonny Blake, Matt Duffy and Liam Davison, the only black mark for the young Blues being a red card for left-winger Connor Tinnion. Next week the whole division takes a week off due to the League Cup, United themselves facing Wrexham in a 12noon kick-off at Gillford Park.
