Walsall made sure of taking the title on Saturday morning as they won 3-0 away to Oldham to ensure that Wigan's game at Burnley on Monday afternoon became meaningless. The Latics drawing 3-3 away to the Clarets after demolishing Accrington Stanley 7-0 on the road two days earlier, having already defeated Preston 3-0 in an another away fixture on Wednesday.

Carlisle made it nine goals conceded in their last two games for the Lilywhites as they crushed North End 6-1 at home at the weekend. That victory, after a 1-1 draw for United away to Morecambe on Wednesday, meaning that the Blues finish a more than creditable third in the table after recording an excellent 16 wins from their 27 matches played.
