Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 24 January 2008 By Thetashkentterror
Somewhat unsurprisingly the weather was the biggest winner at the weekend with only three games going ahead as heavy rain ravaged the whole of the North-West . One match on produced a good result for the title chasing pack though as table-toppers Blackpool only drew 4-4 in a goal-packed contest at home to bottom side Morecambe.

The shock point for the Shrimps meaning that Shrewsbury now drop to the foot of the table after losing yet again, this time 3-2 at home to Port Vale. The last match played saw another surprise result as Rochdale claimed only their third win of the season with a 1-0 defeat of a Bury outfit who had topped the division for a long time until dropping down to fourth recently.

Carlisle's postponed game at home to Preston North End means they are now at least three matches behind some sides, and with the FA Youth Cup and Youth Alliance Cup still to be contested for it looks like United's title chasing campaign could be being curtailed by the elements. Their next chance to get a game played in the league comes next Saturday morning when they play away to a Macclesfield side who are one place above them in the table.
