Last updated : 04 April 2007 By Thetashkentterror
Oldham maintained ther nine point lead at the top of Group A with a 3-0 win at Walsall and were one of only two "A" sides to defeat a "B" side in the inter-divisional fixtures this week. Preston went down 3-1 at home to Port Vale on Friday while Bury leapfrogged North End and moved into second in Group A after winning 2-0 away to Group B side Chester, Tranmere being the table-toppers in that division after winning 1-0 at Blackpool.

Wrexham moved off the bottom of Group B with a surprising 3-1 win at Wigan but it was the same old story for "A" wooden-spoonists Accrington who lost their 21st game out of 21 4-1 at home to Stockport, Stanley still not having picked a point up this season. Burnley and Macclesfield shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw in Lancashire while Rochdale remain second bottom in Group A after losing 2-1 at home to Shrewsbury. After having a bye week last Saturday, Carlisle get back into action next weekend with a tough fixture at "B" leaders Tranmere.
