United's youth team went 1-0 up in the 13th minute when striker Rob Bainbridge notched his ninth goal of the season for the club with a close-range effort following a knock-down from an James Earl free-kick in.

County found a way back into the game with an equaliser through a Greg Tansey goal from the edge of the box on 53 minutes. Midfielder Earl soon restored Carlisle's advantage though when he notched his second of the game on the hour-mark with a tap-in after Shaun Vipond's long-range effort had crashed back off the post.

In the 75th minute United extended their lead to 3-1 when Earl bagged a brace as he tried his luck from 20 yards out, the ball sneaking past County keeper Craig Duncan at his far-post.

Moments later Tansey scored his second of the game when he converted a dubious spot-kick that had been awarded for handball. The young Blues weathered the storm easily enough in the final ten minutes to hang on for a worthy win.
