New Youth Coach For United

With the departure of former youth team boss Eric Kinder last month to take up the post of under-21s coach at his hometown club Blackburn Rovers, Irons now takes on the role at Brunton Park. The former Gretna, Annan and Stenhousemuir manager having recently been scouting for Carlisle, alongside his full-time job with the police.

The 51-year old now leaves the beat though, with the fully qualified Glasgow-born coach set up to take his new job with the Cumbrians in a few days time. Irons taking over from youth team analyst Chris Blake and Centre of Excellence manager Dave Wilkes who have been managing the youth squad since Kinder's departure to Ewood Park.
