Morecambe Youth 2-1 United Youth

Last updated : 07 June 2010 By Thetashkentterror
Sadly it is now five away defeats in a row for a much under strength United outfit with the Shrimps attacking early on five minutes on when Mike Evans set up Ben Farley for a cross in that was headed over the top by Chris Wraight. Morecambe soon did take the lead though on the break from a Carlisle corner, when Mike Evans made an excellent strong run through the middle before finishing well past Mark Gillespie.

United almost responding sharply as they put the home side under pressure, Mark Beck hitting the bar with a header and Dan Jones forcing a couple of good saves out of Shrimps stopper, and Preston loanee, Ben Proctor, with Ryan Hall and Cameron Parrish also on work experience at Christie Road from Deepdale. Into the second-half and Gavin Clark struck the Cumbrians crossbar before Gillespie did well to keep out a close-range shot from Farley.

It was 2-0 to Morecambe on 75 minutes though when Eden and Ricky Ball both combined to set up Evans for his second goal of the game. United though quickly getting what would only prove to be a consolation goal when Phil Towler netted after an excellent Blues passing move forwards. The Shrimps actually going close to winning the game 3-1 when Evans missed out on his hat-trick with a long range half-volley that bounced away off the Carlisle crossbar.
