United's youngsters played their third pre-season friendly of the 2007-08 campaign this afternoon as they defeated Huddersfield 5-4 in a thrilling encounter at Storthes Hall in West Yorkshire. The young Blues went 1-0 early down before Madine levelled matters with the first of his four goals.

Carlisle then fell behind again only for central midfielder Jonny Blake to once more equalise for the Cumbrians. Madine then put United 3-2 up before two quick goals for the Terriers got them in front once more in a see-saw match at 4-3. Madine then completing an excellent day for himself as he scored two more goals to finally finish the scoring and seal a 5-4 win for Carlisle.

Madine also hit the bar during the match while fellow strike partner Andy Cook also rattled the Huddersfield post. So, plenty to work on for United at the defensive end of the field but Madine already looks in fine form for the Cumbrians while Blake has now scored twice in three outings from his midfield berth.

United line-up :

Alex Mitchell, Matthew Brown, Matt Duffy, Tom Aldred, Dan Wordsworth, Jonny Blake, Matthew Wood, Stephen Hindmarch, Andrew Cook, Gary Madine, Connor Tinnion.
