Two-goal Ryan Bowman
Before the start of last year's campaign Carlisle defeated the Terriers by one goal in a nine-goal thriller and this season there was only a little bit less excitement as the sides shared six goals. That draw coming after the young Blues had hammered Rochdale 5-0 just six days earlier.

It was a strong side out for United, with Simon Lakeland playing at right-back again after impressing in that position late last season. The home side went into the break a goal to the good though after Carlisle goalkeeper Alex Mitchell misjudged the flight of a free-kick into his penalty area.

United hotshots Andy Cook and Ryan Bowman missed a couple of chances each to equalise, with Bowman also being robbed of a goal by a poor refereeeing decision. Carlisle though did level matters when Connor Tinnion cut in from the right on his left foot and curled a lovely shot into the top corner of the Huddersfield net.

Bowman then struck twice in quick successsion with close-range shots to make the scoreline 3-1. That coming before United showed the dark side of their game when they conceded two sloppy goals from a defensive perspective to allow Huddersfield to draw level at 3-3.
