FA Youth Cup
Like the senior version of the competition only Chelsea now remain at the quarter-final stage as they won 1-0 at home to Portsmouth in round five, with Manchester United having lost 3-0 at Blackburn, while Liverpool were surprisingly defeated 1-0 at home to Watford. Aston Villa did make it through though as they won 4-1 at Villa Park against Millwall, while Newcastle had a good win on the road, 3-0 at West Ham.

Another Championship side to defeat a Premier League outfit was cash-strapped Crystal Palace who, luckily for them at the moment, have an excellent youth set-up, the Eagles winning 4-1 at Hull in a match played at North Ferriby's Church Road ground. Ipswich couldn't repeat the same feat however as they went down 3-1 against Fulham at Portman Road.

The last team to be in the competition from Carlisle's division was Preston North End but their campaign ended as they were easily defeated 3-0 at home to Everton. The Toffeemen now face a trip to Blackburn for a North-West derby in the final eight, while the first quarter-final to be played comes on Wednesday evening when Watford face Chelsea at Vicarage Road.
