Chelsea having two goals ruled out for offside before Manchester City took the lead on 49 minutes thanks to highly-rated striker Daniel Sturridge, the home side levelling matters midway through the second period when Gael Kakuta headed home from a corner.

In tonight's second leg the West Londoners went ahead for the first time in the final thanks to a Ryan McGivern own goal after only six minutes, City bringing the aggregate score to 2-2 when they equalised through Ben Mee on 22 minutes. The Citizens then going on to grab the cup 4-2 on aggregate, in front of a mammoth attendance of 19,783 at the City of Manchester Stadium, with further strikes from Vladimir Weiss on 34 and David Bell after 85 from the penalty spot.
