The Carlisle youngsters made it three matches unbeaten in their first four pre-season friendlies with a 2-2 draw against a highly-rated Crewe academy side today. The game though signalling the first dry spell for strike partners Ryan Bowman and Andy Cook as it was two defenders who got themselves on the United scoresheet.

Skipper Aldred opening the scoring when Connor Tinnion swung in a free-kick from the right which he was able to acrobatically overhead kick into the Crewe net for a fantastic goal from 12 yards out. That joy was short-lived though as the Railwaymen equalised less than sixty seconds later from the penalty spot after a Duffy handball.

Duffy then being involved in another penalty when United retook the lead after Cook had been brought down in the Crewe box, Duffy stepping up confidently to slot home the spot-kick. Sadly for Carlisle though Bowman and Cook missed a few chances apiece and the home side were able to grab a late, late equaliser.

Still, another match unbeaten and another useful run-out for the lads, apart from John Seaton who has missed the last two friendly games with a stomach bug. United's next match coming this Wednesday afternoon when they take a trip to Scotland to face Motherwell.
