Carlisle were in good form going into the game but Burnley were also going to be a tough nut to crack and so it turned out at Gawthorpe this morning. The Clarets were pretty much on top throughout and they scored their first goal of the game just after the half-hour mark when Adam Kay, Rob Turner, Alex McDonald and James Craggs all combined to set up Alex-Ray Harvey for an easy tap in.

Burnley doubled their advantage two minutes after the interval when some neat work by Turner and Craggs saw McDonald fire home off the post. The Clarets then killing the game off just five minutes later when Kay converted a rebound off his own initial shot that Blues keeper Grant Carson had done well to save.

The game died off a little from there with no more goals being scored and some meaty challenges seeing both sides bringing on substitutes, that only helping to break the run of play up even more. Matthew Wood leaving the field after going over his ankle while Ged Dalton battled on despite having a fierce nose bleed for 20 minutes.
