Ryan Bowman - hat-trick
After losing two games in a row at home Carlisle bounced back in style with a cracking victory at Burnley. United going close to taking the lead as early as the second minute when Cameroon-born trialist striker Manny Richardson saw Clarets goalkeeper Danny McDonald make a good save low down at his near-post.

Richardson did put United 1-0 up on 16 minutes though when he showed some neat footwork just inside the box to control the ball well, make some space and then smack home a well-placed finish. Richardson again, and then Bowman failing to convert as the young Blues had further chances, while Burnley's Dom Knowles also went close before the break.

Less than sixty seconds into the second period and United won a penalty when Richardson was brought down by McDonald, the Clarets stopper redeeming himself though by getting up and saving Bowman's spot-kick. Steve Edwards then sent a header narrowly wide for Burnley before Bowman made it 2-0 on the hour-mark, the Carlisle top scorer getting on the end of a pass through before rounding McDonald and sliding the ball home into an empty net.

Oliver Devenney then sent an overhead kick over the top and Jake McEneaney had a shot parried out by Mark Gillespie as the Clarets looked to get back into the game but Bowman extended United's lead to 3-0 after 80 minutes with a well-hit drive. Bowman rounding off a big win and claiming his hat-trick three minutes later with another good finish past McDonald.

The last chance of the game going to Burnley shortly before the final whistle when Joe Jackson sent a header off target. Carlisle then holding on to their clean sheet in what is their best win of the season to date, the next opportunity for the lads to get another three points coming next Saturday morning when they play at home to Morecambe in a match that kicks off at 11am at Creighton Rugby Club.
