United's youngsters let a two goal lead slip as they drew 2-2 away to Blackpool this morning at Squires Gate.

The Blues went in at the break with a one goal lead after some poor defending by the Seasiders had gifted United a fifth minute opener scored by midfielder James Earl. A long ball through bounced over the 'Pool defence and home keeper Joe Abbott leaving Earl all alone to knock the ball home into an empty net.

United went 2-0 up five minutes after the break through an excellent Pete Ferris finish. The Carlisle-born midfielder ran strongly to the edge of the Seasiders box before unleashing a driven shot across home keeper Abbott and into the far corner. The young Blackpool side though came storming back after that with defender Matt Lawlor quickly pulling a goal back with a header from a Ryan Watson corner.

United managed to hang on until injury time, with Adam Bradley outstanding in goal for the Blues, when Watson was this time the scorer as he rifled home from the edge of the box to leave the young Blues looking at a disappointing draw after they had been two goals to the good.
